Transfer Of Funds Restricted
The South African Treasury has announced that transfers of funds to ncn-sterling countries will be “drastically curtailed.” This action will be taken because of the heavy dram on the Union’s gold reserves. “Remittances to non-sterling countries for the engagement of the services of dance bands, musicians, singers, boxers, wrestlers, and other persons, for entertainment purposes in the Union are being restricted,” said the Treasury statement—Cape Town, March 10.
