Wire-Tapping Plot Alleged By Police In New York City

The Mayor, Mr O’Dwyer, of New York, stated that the police discovered a plot to obtain official city secrets by tapping telephone wires. Later the New York district attorney announced that he would send the evidence of the plot to the grand jury. The police arrested two alleged wire-tappers, but one of them, a retired detective, has since escaped from custody. He excused himself while being questioned at the City Hall and escaped out of the washroom window.
