HUGE QUANTITY OF AUSTRALIAN WHEAT FOR INDIA
(Rec. 10.15 a.m.) PERTH, This Day. Australia . has sold 24,250,000 bushels of wheat to India at 14s 8d a bushel. Another 7,500,000 bushels has been sold as flour.
This was stated by Mr J. S. Teasdale, of the Australian Wheat Board, who added that the flour deal should save the Australian flour mills from having to reduce time to two shifts daily. India had asked the board to quote for a further 5,000,000 bushels of flour, for which the price would be calculated on the same level as that of wheat.
Australia is reported to be negotiating to sell Britain 60,000,000 bushels at 13s 6d to 13s 9d a bushel.
