CRASHED PLANE SALVAGED FROM BIG BAY
(P.A.) DUNEDIN, This Day. The first aircraft ever to go through the Homer tunnel went through when a Percival Proctor, which was salvaged from Big Bay on March 4 was taken to Queenstown. The aircraft, which crashed in the sand at Big Bay last October, was taken in sections from here to Milford in the launch Alert. It was then loaded in sections on a truck, which took it through the tunnel to the Homer camp, where it was offloaded again into a car trailer to make the long haul to Queenstown. Mr F. J. Lucas, to whom the plane belonged, said he was surprised at the condition of the engine and parts, which in spite of the long exposure to the weather, were in excellent order. _
