BETTER SUPPLIES OF TAPESTRY WORK
Women who find relaxation in doing embroidery work are finding that once again shops are a greater variety of stamped pieces, ready for working, says the Dominion. From British sources designs of striking beautv continue to be received. The stamped linen available is cheaper than formerly. It is said that New Zealand women are linen-conscious and have always been willing buyers of quality doth. , , Embroidery cottons are plentiful, and there are many new colours. Designs for embroidering with instructions regarding the stitches to be used, are fashioned for effect and do not entail months of careful work.
Sewing cottons are ’reported to be still scarce, but it is expected that the situation will be easier within the next three months. Cottons for embroidery are made from shorter ends and are softer and fluffier than the firm cotton needed for plain hand-sewing and machine work.
A favourite winter pastime round many firesides is tapestry work. Its devotees, who include not a few men among the women, will no doubt appreciate the fact that tapestry wools are available again.
