SOFTBALL CANTERBURY TEAM WINS SENIOR N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP

Canterbury A won the senior title when the final day of play in the New Zealand women's softball championships was held at Cass square, Hokitika, yesterday. Conditions for play were ideal. An extra game between North Otago and Buller was required to decide the junior championships, with North Otago running out the winners, 10-6. Championships were won as follows: —Senior: Canterbury A; run-ners-up, Otago A. Intermediate: North Otago; runners-up, Buller and Otago B (equal). Junior: Otago; run-ners-up, Canterbury C. Results of yesterday’s matches were:—North Otago 18, O’tago B 17; Buller 9, Canterbury B 7; Otago B 16, Westland A 2; North Otago 14, Buller 8; Otago C 34, Westland B 2; Canterbury A 8, Otago A 3.
