CANBERRA, Feb. ,27.
The Minister of External Affairs (Dr H. V. Evatt) left Australia for London three days ahead of schedule to call on Pandit Nehru, in New Delhi, with a personal explanation. It is learned authoritatively that he has already alopogised to Pandit Nehru for his statement in the House of Representatives on February 9 that Pandit Nehru supported a white Australia policy. . Correspondents say that a diplomatic incident between India and Australia was averted only by the promptness of Dr Evatt’s. apology. It is understood that Pandit Nehru’s view is that a white Australia policy is justifiable only if its aim is economic father than racial.
