Shark Stalks Youth
A grey nurse shark, 12 feet long, threw a youth off a surf ski at Newport beach, arid then cruised round hun for ten minutes while the youth clung to the overturned ski and beat the sim’-k off with his paddle. The shark surfaced under the ski, tossing it. into Ihe air. Surf club members immediately called all surfers from the water with a siren. Club members, on skis, at tempted a rescue, but they were swept off by heavy seas. Finally, one member reached the youth and brought him in unharmed.—Sydney, February 27.
