Russia And Her Fifth Columns
(Rec. 11.10 a.m.) PARIS, October 15
The United States delegate, Mr Frederick Osborn, asked Russia at a meeting of the United Nations Sub-committee on Disarmament to withdraw her fifth columns from all over the world.
He asked: “Will you signify your cessation of expansionism? By doing this you will open your country up, so that all other nations know what is going on. and relieve them of the fear which requires them to arm.” Mr Osborn said that the Russian approach ..to disarmament was accompanied by tricks. He asked whether there was not a certain effrontery in Russia’s presenting such a resolution in the name of a dictatorship which Mr Stalin had described as . one based on violence and not on law.
