ANOTHER £l0,000 LOTTERY PRIZE TO CHRISTCHURCH
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. First prize of £lO,OOO in an overseas lottery has been won by a Christchurch syndicate, the principal of which is Mr T. A. Gordon, drummajor of the City of Christchurch Pipe Band, who works in an engineering firm. Mr Gordon and two frends (whom he refused to name) have been buying tickets for three years, and estimate that they have taken about 160. They have never before won prizes, but twice they were granted free tickets for holding numbers similar to those of prize-win-ners.
“Salt it down—or sleep on it,” was Mr Gordon’s reply to an inquiry about plans for his share of the £lO,OOO. He added that all three men concerned were married fairly recently, and would share the prize equally. x Mi- Gordon said threes seemed to figure a good deal in their success. There were three in his syndicate, they had been competing for three years, their winning ticket was 99 in the series, and this was the third time in the last few months that' a £lO,OOO prize had come to the Cristchurch district.
