TASMAN PASSENGER CONGESTION MAY BE RELIEVED SHORTLY
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Lack of Tasman passenger shipping was due to the inability to date of the Government, which requisitioned the Monowai by legislative authority for war service, to return the vessel for the commercial service, according to a statement issued today by the Union Steam Ship company. The statement said the Awatea was lost while under a similar requisition. The congestion of passengers had been further incerased by the continuing difficulties experienced by the Tasman air service and by the stranding of the Wanganella, but it was considered. there was nothing like 2000 people in Sydney awaiting Tasman transportation (as reported in a Sydney message). ® It is expected that the Wanganella and the Monowai will become available in-November and December respectively for regular service, and, in the meantime, full, use is being made of other vessels which became available for the trip from time to time. .
