A Good Effort
Minoru went a good race to finish second to Mountain Hall in the King George Handicap at Forbury Park last Saturday, and he might have been even harder to beat if his final .run had been delayed a little. The Quite Sure gelding paid an outsize in. dividends when he won the Islington Handicap at Addington in August. -He was taken to Auckland last month and finished third to Red Ace and Lady Averil in the Ferguson Handicap, of a mile and a-half, the margins being a nose and a head. Minoru may not reach the tightest classes, but he is capable of winning from his oresent assessments.
Came Home Strongly ■ Noble Jack came from a long way back to get second in the first division of the St Clair Handicap at Forbury Park last Saturday, and gave the impression that a two-mile jourliey would not be beyond him. A five-year-old by a Nobleman colt from Filigree, he looks like being .more than useful, and he may pick up. a, .stake, 'at one of the early, minor, meetings.; L'/ ... .'

Good Filly Perpetua began well in her race on the first day of the Forbury Park meeting, but covered a good deal of extra ground during the running, and her close fourth, under the circumstances, was a very promising effort.- As it was only her second start since she. won the Sapling Stakes at Ashburton, in June, the Springfield Globe filly should more than pay her way : this, season. .. . .
