ART UNION WINNER HAS DRAWN PENSION FOR 20 YEARS
(PA) AUCKLAND, This Day. A man who had been keeping himself and his wife on a pension for 20 years and “squatting” m a house at Riverhead for two years and a half will now be able to buy Himself ta house. He is Mr G. Crawford, who won the first prize of £2OOO in the art union which was drawn yesterday.. . Prevented from working by a strained back Mr Crawford moved into the Riverhead house. He tried to trace the owner in the hope of buying it but could find no one to claim it. With the little money he managed to get together he bought a section Now he will be able to do what lack of means prevented before —build a little house for himself and his wife.
