SENIOR COMPETITION TO COMMENCE ON OCTOBER 24

Although it had been proposed previously that the season should open on October 17, if wickets were available; it was reported at a meeting of the executive committee of the West Coast Cricket Association last evening that most clubs were still preparing wickets and it appeared that the opening of the season would have to be delayed for at least a week. After considerable discussion on the matter it was decided that the senior and senior reserve competitions commence on October 24 and Saturday competitions the following week-end.

“What ’wickets will be available on that date?” asked Mr M. Vernon. Members intimated that the majority of wickets would be ready by the coming week-end, but one club stated that it would require an extra week in which to ‘put its wickets in order.

The chairman (Mr W. Meates): If you think the wickets will be available on October 24, you can open on that date.

Mr R. Donaldson then moved along he lines indicated above.

were approved and permission for the transfer of the player concerned was granted subject to the approval of the Blackball Club. Friendly Matches
