OBITUARY Mr James McLean

The death occurred at Greymouth this morning at the age of 75 years of Mr James McLean. Mr McLean, who was a single man and had no relatives in New Zealand, was born in Scotland and came to New Zealand as a young man. He joined the maintenance branch of the New Zealand Railways at Greymouth as a painter in 1922, retiring seven years ago owing to illhealth. The funeral will take place at the Karoro cemetery on Friday afternoon following a service at Bellamy’s Chapel. Mrs Louisa C. Thomson The death occurred at Greymouth this morning, after a fairly lengthy illness, of Mrs Louisa Catherine Thomson, of Dobson, a nioneer resident of the West Coast, Mrs" Thomson, who was aged 81 years, was born at Greymouth and as a child went with her .parents to the gold diggings at Orwell Creek, later moving to Ross where she resided foi- many years. She came to Dobson 40 years ago, but had been residing with her son in Shakespeare street for the past five months. Predeceased by her husband many years ago, Mrs Thomson is survived by two daughters, Mrs H. Patterson (Foxton) and Miss Louisa Thomson (Christchurch), one son John (Greymouth), two brothers Jack Gagliardi (Christchurch) and Joseph Gagliardi (Kaikoura) and one sister Mrs B. McGlone (Auckland). The private funeral will take place at the Karoro cemetery on Friday.
