NO PROVISION YET FOR ONE CLASS OF WAR VETERAN.

IP.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. There was still one class of war veteran for which provision had yet to be made —those who, although not in need of urgent surgical attention were chronic bed-ridden cases—said the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, addressing the annual meeting today of the Joint Council of the Order of St John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society. These men, his Excellency added, could not be taken by the hospitals and at present there were no homes in which adequate nursing facilities existed. “The National Patriotic Fund Board will put a proposal to you that you consider enlarging the scope of your lour homes,” Sir Bernard continued, “even if this would mean the erection of additional wings.” His Excellency expressed the view that there should be some sort of recuperative camp for returned men suffering from nervous disorders. The third class of veteran requiring help was the older man and arrangements were in train for the necessary provision, said His Excellency.
