AUSTRALIAN AIRMEN FOR BERLIN

(Rec. 11.45 a.m.) SYDNEY. This Day. The first batch of 21) R.A.A.F. men will leave Sydney today lor Britain by a Qantas Constellation, en route to Berlin. They are pari of a total of 40 men. comprising 10 Dakota crews, who will help in Hying supplies into Berlin. The Prime Minister. Mr Ghifley. said that the British Government, in declining the offer ol aircraft, had indicated that the most valuable assistance would be in I ho form of trained -crews. The men will be kept together and will retain their Australian identity in association with an R.A.F. squadron. The party will be in charge of a war-dec.oraled scpiadron leader, and half its complement will be officers. The* men are drawn from the Australian scpiadron responsible for running the courier service to Japan during the last two years.
