Mr and Mrs J. Tanner left today on a visit to Gisborne. Mrs G. F. Howes and Mrs E. R. Found left today on a visit to Dunedin. Mr W. McLennan left today on a visit to Christchurch. Misses N. C. Barmister and M. A. Phillips left todav for Trentham. Mr and Mrs S. McAra left today on a visit to Napier. Messrs M'. Szabados and P. Andersson left by this morning’s express for Christchurch. Mr A. J. Abelson. of the State Hydroelectric Department, Greymouth, left on the express this morning on transfer to Napier. Mr C. L. Cutler, Greymouth, left today for Wellington, to represent the West Coast branch at the annual conference of the Public Service Association.

Mr T. A. Coulter, inspector of stock and dairies for the Department of Agriculture in Christchurch, has been appointed supervising dairy inspector for New Zealand. Mr Coulter will stay in Christchurch. Since 1926 Mr Coulter has been closely connected with Christchurch’s milk supply. In that year he jointed the department as a meat inspector, with part-time duties which took him on to farms supplying Christchurch with milk. From 1934 he has been employed full time on dairy inspection. He had farming experience before joining 'the department.
