HUNTLY MINE STRIKERS TO HOLD MEETING TODAY

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A mass meeting of the men at the three ilde Huntly mines will be held this afternoon to hear reports on the progress of the negotiations for a settlement. One of the retarding factors is understood to be the reluctance of the men of the Macdonald mine, where the dispute originated, to refer the matter to the local disputes committee, because they are not sufficiently sure of the strength of their case. The loss of production through two disputes on the Waikato coalfields in less than one month now totals about 23,000 tons, equivalent to more than a full week’s output from all the North Island underground mines. The present Huntly strike accounts for nearly 13,000 tons of this.
