Competitions In Greymouth Opened Today

The Greymouth Competitions Society opened its 34th annual festival at Greymouth this morning, when events were held in the Wesley, St John’s, and Columba halls. Entries in all events are good and the standard of work is high. The judges are: Vocal and instrumental, Mr H. Temple-White (Wellington); dancing, Miss Isa McKenzie (Palmerston North); elocution, Mrs Matthew Teward (Wellington). The competitions will be officially opened by the Mayor of Greymouth, Mr F. F. Boustridge, at the Wesley Hall this evening. The festival will continue until Thursday, when a demonstration concert will be given by the winners in the Regent Theatre.
