(PA.) NELSON, August 16. The Australian hockey team beat Nelson bv 4 goals to 1 today on a hard, fast ground. The attendance was 2000. The visitors led 3-1 at halftime. . .
Clever stickwork, better combination between the halves and forwards, and the short passing of the forwards gave the visitors the advantage. In the second half, Nelson held a territorial advantage, but. Australia’s defence, especially that of Southward, back, and Johnson. -goalkeeper, was solid. Scorers for Australia were Dick, Salisbury, Barnes, and Browne. For Nelson, Botting scored. The outstanding visiting forwards were Browne, Dick, and Barnes. McNamara was the best half. Botting and Hurst were Nelson’s best forwards and Norgate was the strongest back. '
