N.Z. WOMEN’S SKI-ING CHAMPIONSHIP
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Aug. 16. An Otago skier, Mrs C. Gilkison, won the New Zealand women’s slalom championship at Coronet Peak today, and her points also gave her the combined ski running championship on the aggregate of downhill and slalom. The previous champion, Miss Helen Alanstown. who won the women’s downhill on Saturday, did not compete today because of an injury. The first five placings in the New Zealand women’s championship for aggregate points were:—Mrs Gilkison (Gtago) 180.79, 1; Miss P. McMahon (Aorangi), 173.58, 2; Miss P. Wigley (Tasman), 151.94, 3; Miss P. Bradshaw (Christchurch)., 151.72, 4; Miss I. Kitson (Christchurch), 148.05, 5. Aggregate points in the men’s championships were:- —T. W. Mitchell (Australia), 200. 1; H. G. Lonsdale (Wakatinu) 176.21. 2; N. Hamilton (Christchurch), 169.1, 1,3; S. S. Lonsdale (Wakatipu), 165.11, 4; A. Hansen ( Wakatipu), 163.34, 5.
