GREYMOUTH PLUNKET SOCIETY MEETING
Information was received at the monthly meeting of the Grey mouth Blanket Society that a general conference will be held in Wellington on November 2 and 2 next. Branches were requested to forward to the Dominion secretary, by the end of August, any remits they desire to present for discussion. The Mothers” Club advised that Mrs M. R. Carson had been elected to represent the chib on the Plunket Committee.
It was announced that a sub-branch of the society has been formed at Ahaura.
The apparent shortage of Karitane Nurses in New Zealand was discussed and it was decided to submit a remit for discussion at the next general conference that trainees be required to enter 'into an agreement that they will give at least two years’ continuous service on completing their training course.
Reports on the annual house-to--1 house collections were presented and the following amounts were handed in for banking:—Mesdames A. T. Wallis and W. D. Taylor £l2 4s 6d and Mrs G. Boucher £l5 18s Gd. The nurses report was as follows: — New cases 50; visits to homes 353; to rooms, babies 608, pre-school 62, adults 655. Number under supervision: Babies 608, pre-school children 332. ' The president (Mrs F. M. Dennehy) commenting on the gift of £lOO from the Greymouth Operatic Society’s production “The New Moon,” expressed the committee’s appreciation and thanks for the substantial contribution.
