Poliomyelitis Cases
Two positive cases of poliomyelitis I were reported in the Wellington •health district during the week-end, la girl, aged 15 years, from the Hutt I Valley, and a boy, aged seven years, from Wellington. In neither case is a school affected. —(P.A.)
Third Arrest On Arson Charge i A farm labourer, Alexander Lynn ' Mclntosh, aged 26, was remanded i until August 25 in the Magistrate’s ‘ Court at Wellington on Friday on a : charge of wilfully setting fire to No. 4 shed, R.N.Z.A.F. station, Rongotai, on September 25, 1946, thereby cornemitting arson. Counsel said that accused had not previously been before the court on any charge and that he had a defence to the charge. Bail was granted. Two other men arc on remand on similar charges. The fire destroyed wool and other goods valued at nearly £750,000. — (P.A.)
