Alleged Stabbing Of Man: Suspect Charged
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A sequel to a stabbing case at Parnell on Saturday afternoon, in which three chest wounds were alleged to have been inflicted with a screw driver, was the appearance in the Police Court today of Patrick Kelly, aged 68, a labourer. He was charged with assaulting Arnold Harold Garmonsway, married, and causing actual bodily harm. Mr J. F. W. Dickson appeared for Kelly. On the application of the police, the accused was remanded until August 21. “The injured man is still in a serious condition,” said Detective-Sergeant Fell. Before Kelly left the dock, he said: “I plead not guilty.” Suffering from three wounds, including a punctured lung, Garmonsway was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Saturday afternoon. First information about the incident was received by the police wheh a man called at the Central Police Station, stating he had just “stabbed a man.” A detective went to a basement in Parnell, and found the injured man.
