LATE NEWS RUSSIA CALLED ON TO PROVE CLAIM
(Rec. 3 p.m.) BELGRADE, August 12. Sir Charles Peake (Britain), at the Danube Conference, demanded that Russia prove its claim, to be a Danubian country with direct territorial interests in the control of the Danuoe. Waving a map of Eastern Europe, he said he could not discover where the Danube touched the soil of Russia, except in the Ukraine. Therefore he argued that Russia should not be entitled to two seats —Russia s ana Ukraine’s—on the proposed control commission. Riccarton Scratchings (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. .
