BOXING WEST COAST TEAM MAINTAINS RECORD

The team- of West Coast boxers which has participated in most of the major boxing tournaments in the South island this year, maintained its unbeaten record at Ashburton this week, when three of the four members secured victories. Clever scientific boxing was provided by R. Sadler (Waimate, 9st 81b) and V. Tuck (Greymouth, 9st 81b). Tuck gained a narrow decision and a trophy, after winning each of the four rounds. , One of the hardest hitting fights was a lightweight bout in which B. Eder (Greymouth, 9st 81b) beat L. Prue (Waimate, lOst) on points. Eder reached top form in this bout, and he and Ins opponent were awarded a special trophy for the best bout of the evening.

M. Tuck (Greymouth, lOst 111 b) had no trouble in defeating M. Gardiner (Oamaru, list) on points. R. Wilson (Greymouth, 12st 51b) was beaten on points by a more experienced opponent in W. Tonks (list 71b).
