FORMER DETECTIVE OFFERS TO HELP CONVICTED THIEF
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Having pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to theft of a quantity of paint, William Emil Keech, aged 34, a clerk and storeman, and Leslie James, aged 29, a battery paster, appeared jointly before Mr Justice Christie in the Supreme Court today for sentence. Keech, on whose behalf (ormer Chief Detective Alfred Ward gave evidence as to character and whom he undertook to help, was admitted to two years’ probation, and warndd that this would be his last chance. James received the same term of probation, and each were ordered to pay £5 5s towards the cost of the prosecution.
