Chinese Presidency
Marshal Chiang Kai-shek has announced that he will not be a candidate for the Chinese Presidency. He suggested that a non-partisan should be° elected. “Marshal Chiang Kaishek’s refusal to run for re-election as President of China suggests a new post for him as Premier or Army Chief of Staff,”' says the New York Times correspondent in Nanking. “It is also interpreted as his personal endorsement of Dr Hu Shih, former Chinese Ambassador. to the United States, for the Presidency.”—New New York, April 4.
