Martial Note Won £795 In Stakes For Omoto Trainer
Martial Note, which was raced by C. J. Walsh, of Omoto, during the greater part of the present season to date, was sold at a hack price on Sunday, and if he races again it will probably be as a jumper. Walsh took the Battle Song gelding to Riccarton for the Easter meeting but raced him without success and the horse bled badly on Saturday. Walsh’s lease of Martial Note expired automaticaly on the death of Mr A. J. Tutton recently but the estate agreed to allow the horse to race in Walsh’s ownership until after the Riccarton meeting. The estate further had agreed to a renewal of the lease but when the horse bled on Saturday Walsh did not feel disposed to renew it, hence the sale. Martial Note was a profitable horse for Walsh, among his successes being the Craven Plate at Riccarton and the Hannan Memorial at Omoto, and he won £795 in stakes. Change of Stables • . Royal Gamble, which was trained for his races earlier in the season by D. Todd, is a recent addition to S. A. Edwards’s team at West . Melton. By Gamble, Royal Gamble is out of Erin’s Princess, by Wrack from a winner in Erin’s Logan. Edwards seldom wastes much time with a poor horse and it will be interesting to see how he fares with Royal Gamble. Paddy Potts Sold L. A. Williams has sold Paddy Potts to Mr D. Wild and the aged son of Jack Potts and Atonement (by Logan Pointer) has joined A. Purdons team at Riccarton. Paddy Potts has been a useful winner and may go further.
