BOWLING PROGRESSIVE PAIRS ON COBDEN CLUB’S GREENS
The Cobden Bowling Club concluded its season on Sunday with a drawing competition in the morning and a progressive pairs in the afternoon. Drawing Competition. —W. McBean 1, L. Cutler 2. Progressive Pairs: First Round. Stokes and Ware beat Bennett and Haglund; Mcßean and Arthur beat Gilmour and Weston; Cochrane ana White beat Thomson and Stillwell; Halliday and Cutler beat Bellamy and Jamieson. Second Round.—Mcßean and Jamieson beat Stokes and Stillwell, Bennett and White beat Halliday and Weston; Thomson-and Ware beat Bellamy and Arthur; Cochrane and Haglung beat Gilmour and Cutler. Third Round.—Mcßean and Ware beat Thomson and White; Halliday and Jamieson beat Cochrane ana Weston; Gilmour and Arthur beat Bennett and Cutler; Bellamy and Stillwell beat Stokes and Haglund. Fourth Round. —Thomson and Cutler beat Bennett and Stillwell; Cochrane and Ware beat Stokes and Weston; Mcßean and Haglund beat Halliday and Arthur; Gilmour and Jamieson beat Bellamy and White. The winning skip was W. Mcßean with four wins and the winning lead R. Ware with four wins. Second places went to R. Cochrane (s) and R. Jamieson (1) with three wins each. D. Sullivan Wins Returned Servicemen’s Match
Thirteen fours participated in a returned servicemen’s bowling match which was held at the Blaketown Club’s green, under ideal conditions, on Saturday. The final which was played over five heads, resulted in a win for the rink skipped by D. Sullivan which defeated J. Massey’s team. The winning team was Messrs D. Batty, F. Haglund, E. Flood and D. Sullivan. The runners-up were Messrs C, Ross, F. Graham, Pool and J. Massey.
Women’s Champions In Pairs And Singles The Cobden Women’s Bowling Club concluded its season with the club championship singles and pairs played on Friday and Saturday. Following were the results of the finals and semi-finals: — I Singles: semi-finals, first life. —Miss Batty beat Mrs Arthur; Mrs Alexander beat Mrs Fairhall. Final, first life. Mrs Alexander beat Miss Batty. • Semi-finals, second life. —Mrs Langridge beat Mrs Stokes; Mrs Arthur beat Mrs Alderson. Final, second life. Mrs Arthur beat Mrs Langridge. Chamoionship final.—Mrs Alexander beat Mrs Arthur. Pairs: semi-finals, first life. —Mrs Alderson and Mrs Patterson beat Mrs Geary and Mrs Alexander; Mrs Bellamy and Mrs Coom beat Miss Batty and Mrs Fairhall. Final, first life.— Mrs Bellamy and Mrs Coom beat Mrs Alderson and Mrs Patterson. Semifinals, second life.—Miss Batty and Mrs Fairhall beat Mrs Alderson and Mrs Patterson; Mrs Arthur and Mrs McLean beat Mrs McGirr and Mrs Stokes.
