NEW MEMBER HOLES IN ONE AT KAIATA LINKS

The unusual feat of holing in one v-as performed by a new member from Christchurch. J. B. Thomas, at the Greymouth Golf Club s ImKS at Kaiata yesterday. Thomas was playin<* in a four-ball match when he holed his tee shot at the ninth, a distance of 120 yards. The hole is not visible from the tee. There was a representative gathering from all West Coast clubs at the opening of the new season at the Greymouth Club’s links at Kaiata on Saturday, when the club’s president, Mr W. Meldrum, officially opened the sea c on and drove the first ball. A Canadian mixed foursome was won by S. Cox and Mrs J. Bluett,

with 46 points. Other good cards were: D. M. Stirton and Mrs Jones; 51: A. K. Smith and Mrs Smith, 53; J. B. Thomas and Miss Deere. 53; N. Wallis and Mrs Hannan, 53; Lindley and Mrs McCarthy, 55.
