SHIPS COLLIDE AT SUEZ ENTRANCE
CAIRO, March 13. Twenty-nine of the crew, including the captain, were injured when the Italian tanker Olterra caught fire after a collision with the Italian ship Gaeta at the entrance to the Suez Canal today. The Olterra, which was carrying crude oil. wa's towed clear of Port Said, which has been closed until further notice for fear of an explosion. $ Tug boats rescued from sharkinfested waters the surviving members of the crew of the Olterra. The crew leapt into the sea in their pyjamas. The first officer returned to retrieve the ship’s log. He was trapped by the flames and burnt to death. There are a number of men missing. ■
