PLUMBING MATERIAL POSITION DESCRIBED AS ‘VERY DIFFICULT’
(P.A.) NELSON. This Day. The 21st annual meeting of the New Zealand Plumbers’ and Merchants’ Guild re-elected Mr A. C. Hinman (Wellington) president. Speaking to a report, Mr Hinman said the supply position of plumbing materials was very difficult. The United Kingdom had so many calls on its production that it could not meet New Zealand’s requirements. Supplies from Canada and the United States were restricted chiefly by the lack of licences. Australia had an increased local demand and the slow turn-round of ships prevented picking up of all that was offering.
