FINALISTS’ REWARDS IN “MISS NEW ZEALAND” QUEST

Miss Jacqueline Fraser (Miss Otago) was the candidate who raised the most money in the Miss New Zealand Quest. Sponsored by the Dunedin Junior Chamber of Commerce, Miss Fraser raised £ll9O through her campaign and is, therefore, the winner of a special prize offered by the quest authorities. Miss New Zealand will receive the winner’s prize of £250, plus the district finalist’s prize of £lOO.

After hearing Miss Miraka Raharuhi (Miss Auckland) speaking over the air at the Wellington Town Hall during the Miss New Zealand programme, the associate producer, Mr Ronald Bowie, of the colour film “Here is New Zealand,” signed her to speak the major portion of the commentary to accompany the showing of the film. Another candidate

has been offered a position doing dress modelling. A newsreel of the 10 finalists in the quest, made in Wellington, has left by air for England, and will, it is expected, be shown in the cinemas there within three weks. It will be shown in New Zealand theatres probably in the next week.
