COBDEN FIRE BRIGADE WINS ANNUAL CONTEST
The annual contest for the KeilsGreen Cup, presented by Mr W. Kells and the late Mr T. H. Green to encourage demonstration, work in the Cobden and Runanga fire brigades, resulted' in a win for the Cobden brigade (the holder) by 76 points to 572. The winning team was Cobden A, with 44| points, Runanga A being runnerup with 35 points. Results in the various events were as follows:— , Four .men, motor. —Cobden a 45secs 1; Cobden B 53secs (inc. 6 penalty) 2; Runanga B 53 l-ssecs 3; Runanga A 58 2-ssecs (inc. 5 pen.) 4. Two men (hose and standpipe).— Runanga A 32 4-ssecsd; Cobden A 33 3-ssecs 2; Cobden B 36 l-ssecs (inc. 3 pen.) 3; Runanga B 44 4-ssecs 4. Three men, disabled hose. —Cobden A 41 l-ssecs 1; Runanga A 42 4-ssecs 2; Cobden B 55 l-ssecs 3; Runanga B 60 l-ssecs (inc. 5 pen.) 4. The points tally for all three events was as follows.—Cobden A 44£; Runanga A 35; Cobden B 311, Runanga B 22£.
