TRUCK DRIVER FINED FOR ASSAULT IN FUN PARLOUR
((P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. An incident in a fun parlour in the city last evening led to the appearance of David Brunton, aged 19,' a truck driver in the Magistrate’s Court today, charged with assault and with using obscene language in a public place. Brunton pleaded guilty to the .charge of assault but not guilty to using obscene language. The complainant said that the accused asked him where there was a dance hall and when he replied, knocked him down, struck him several times and pushed his knee into his stomach.
“It sounds as though you were acting the part of hooligans,” said the Magistrate (Mr H. J. Thompson), in imposing a fine of £5 on the assault charge and convicting and ordering the accused to pay costs on the other charge.
