Beer And Other Things
Congratulating West Coast unionists for their “-fight against the beer barons,” the national secretary of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union, Mr T. Hill, expresses the opinion in the current issue of his union’s journal that the Federation of Labour “should now mobilise a national campaign, but not on beer pric.es alone. What about bread, meat, baby feeds, bacon, eggs, sugar, the essentials of life?” he asks. Mr Hill quoted figures to show that household commodities have risen much more than the price of beer.—(P.A.)
