CRIMINALS INVADE MELBOURNE FOR RACING CARNIVAL
(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day.
Inter-State criminals had invaded Melbourne for the racing carnival, said a police official. The carnival opened with an outbreak of violence. This included a suspected murder and brawls. Police wireless-patrol crews had one of their busiest weekends of the year. The police say that inter-State criminals are in Melbourne to “work” the racecourses.
