WHARF COMMISSION: REPRESENTATIVES OF EMPLOYERS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Thi§ Day. Nominations for the appointment of employers’ representatives on the new Waterfront Industry Commission have been communicated to the Government. Captain H, A. Anderson, of Wellington, and Mr G. L. Almond of New Plymouth, l)ave been recommended for the positions. ’Captain Anderson was wharf superintendent for the Union Steam Ship Company at Auckland for 22 years untill his transfer on promotion to Wellington in 1945, and Mr Almond was a member of the Waterfront Control Commission as reconstituted in June, 1946, under the chairmanship of Mr Justice Ongley. The result of the ballot for two representatives of the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union is expected to be announced on Wednesday or Thursday, after which an early announcement of the Government members is expected.
