N.Z. BOY SCOUTS RETURN FROM WORLD JAMBOREE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 12.. “You have lived up to the traditions of our men who went overseas to fight, and the Dominion is proud of you,” said the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser), when he welcomed back a party of 190 Boy Scouts who attended the world jamboree in Paris. The scouts reached Wellington this morning in the Atlantis. The 40 other members of the contingent and the commanding officer (Sir Joseph Ward) are still in London. “The jamboree was just one link in a wonderfuL chain of events,” said District Scouter C. S. Hall (Dunedin), who was in charge of the party on its homeward trip. From ■ his account of the five months’ happenings, it seemed that the scouts upheld the traditions of New Zealand’s fighting men. The New Zealanders were the only ones asked to repeat their display at the jamboree. The boys had come back with a real knowledge of the food situation in Britain, said Mr Hall. They knew exactly what the British people wanted —fats above all. The three West Coast members of the contingent returned by the Atlantis. They are Scouts R. J. Skelton and P. James, of Greymouth, and Scout P. Wood, of Westport. They; are to leave Wellington today, and will arrive in Greymouth tomorrow afternoon. ■
