CHILD DROWNED IN HEATHCOTE RIVER
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Sandra Joyce Payne, aged 18 months, the daughter of Mr and Mrs E. R. Payne, of 59 Hoon Hay road, was drowned in the Heathcote iiver yesterday morning. The child had been playing about the house just before 10 a.m., when she was missed. A search was started at once and 10 minutes later she was found in the river, which runs along the back of the property. Artificial respiration was tried without result and the child was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital, but she was found to be dead.
