Greymouth W.L Mrs 1 Smart ..presided-.at- (be e P“ tember meeting of the Greymouth W.1., Which was held in the Lyceum Hall recently. Two visitors were welcomed. Invitations were received dnd accepted to attend the Runanga institute’s birthday party. Mesdames Smart and Rose were appointed to represent the. institute at the Townswomen’s guild meeting. The annual appeal for the Lepers’ Fund resulted ill voluntary . donations amounting to 25s being received. Mesdames Green and Taylor were elected delegates to attend the halfyearly meeting of the federation to be held in Reefton.
The. motto for the month, “Don’t wait for your ship to come in, row out apd meet one,” was read by the president. Mrs Smart presented a child’s smocked frock in aid of the funds for the drama circle. .... Compeition results were: iceland poppies, Mrs Pound 1; articles from one yard of material, Mrs Smart 1, Mesdames Green and ‘Tilleyshort, equal, 2. ... Karoro W.l.
The Karoro’ Women’s Institute, Septembei' meeting was attended by 14 members and Mrs Dodd welcomed two visitors, one being Mrs .McKenzie, president "of the newlyformed Cobden institute. Mesdames Robertson and Wildermoth wer.e appointed delegates to the federation meeting at .Reefton, and Mesdames Bradley and Kennedy delegates to the Townswomen’s Guild. Mrs Richardson gave the .social half hour Mrs Hazeldine being the winner of the competition. Mrs Mcßobie read the Dominion president’s letter. . An invitation was received to attend the Runanga W.l. birthday party. The food parcel to England for the month was mixed groceries. Competitions resulted as follows: — Bloom, Mesdames Richardson 1, Murray 2, Kennedy 3. Baking: Mesdames Robertson 1, Murray 2, Richardson 3. Sewing: Mesdames Murray 1, Richardson 2. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses.
