TWO ARBITRATION COURT DEPUTY JUDGES APPOINTED
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The appointments of Mr D. J. Dalgleish, assistant law draftsman, Wellington, and Mr O. G. Stevens, barrister and solicitor, Dunedin, as Deputy Judges of the Court of Arbitration, were announced today by the Minister of Labour, Mr McLagan.
The appointments are made in terms of the recent amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act.
Mr Dalgleish, who is aged 43, was admitted as a solicitor in 1925 and as a barrister in 1926. He practised in a Wellington legal firm for 11 years and was appointed first assistant Parliamentary law draftsman in 1938. Since that time he has drafted many important measures, including the Factories Act, 1946, and a number of other enactments relating to industrial matters. Mr Stevens is 44 years of age. He was educated and qualified in Dunedin. where he commenced practice in 1930. He has practised extensively in the civil and criminal courts.
