FARMERS ASSURED OF PRICE ADJUSTMENTS

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Farmers could be assured that the adjusted prices for annual crops for the 1947-8 season would take into account the extra costs likely to be incurred during the season from the loss of subsidies, increased freight charges and any wage adjustments approved, said the Minister of Agriculture, Mr E. L. Cullen, today. The Minister, recalling his earlier annopncement that price adjustments would be made, said the Department of Agriculture was collaborating with the Stabilisation Commission in making the necessary adjustments, but the work could not be completed for several weeks. However, the farmers, having the assurance that the detailed work of price adjustment would be pushed ahead as rapidly as possible, should not hesitate to follow the cropping plans set in the Aid-for-Britain campaign. ■
