‘MISS NEW ZEALAND’ QUEST: EXCEPTION TAKEN TO REMARK
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Strong exception is taken by Mr K. AV. Kilpatrick, executive director of the “Miss New Zealand” quest, to a statement from Dunedin that the quest was “low.” So far from being on that level, he said, the quest had won the commendation and support of a formidable list of individuals and organisations, including the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association, the Junioi’ Chamber of Commerce, and various trade unions. The remarks were a reflection upon the Dunedin girls in the contest and others in that city who were giving active support to the St George Society in its food-for-Britain drive.
