ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL BLACKBALL TEAM WILL BE TESTED BY RUNANGA

The vastly-improved Runanga team comfortably defeated Taylorville on Saturday at Taylorville by 5 goals to 1 in a fast and spirited game in which the outstanding feature was the fine display of the Runanga forwards. Their positional play combination and shooting ability were too much for the Taylorville defence. The Runanga halves gave their forwards a feast of the ball. Blackball will have difficulty in defeating Runanga in their match on Saturday if the latter reproduce this display. The Blackball team has plenty of ability, and its main fault this season has been failure to take advantage of chances offered them in front of the goal. Christchurch-Thistle The curtain-raiser to the Blackmun cup final will be between Christchurch Thistle and a combined team chosen from the Greymouth and Taylorville clubs. ' Thistle should be thoroughly tested. Saturday’s bill of fare looks to be' the best offered to patrons this season.
