The following are guests at the Albion Hotel:—Messrs E. M. and M. J. McKenzie (Nelson), H. W. Thomson (Hokitika), C. S. Pugh (Wellington), T. E. Grace, E. E. James, G. C. Tye, P. Nicol, J. Pegram, D. J. Clarke, Mi’ and Mrs W. E. Heaton, Miss D. W. Slade, Miss B. Halliday (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs T. A., Nichol, Mr and Mrs A. G. Henderson (Auckland). Mr T. Bowes, who has retired from the position of managing-secretary of the Runanga Co-operative Society’s store, and who will leave shortly to reside in Nelson, was bidden farewell by members of the West Coast group of Grocers’ United Stores last evening. Messrs G. Struthers (who was chairman), A. Brown, E. Down, and A. Still, of the head office of the organisation at Christchurch, were present, in addition to members of the West Coast group. Mr Bowes was presented with a fireside chair by Mr R. Ramage, secretary of the West Coast group. Members spoke highly of Mr Bowes’s success in business and of his personal qualities.
