GOLF GOOD CARDS IN THE BROWN AND WALTERS CUPS COMPETITIONS

In the second round of the Brown and Walters Cups during the weekend, Garth and Mardon returned the fine card of 7 up, to take the lead. Another excellent card was returned by Hardie and Chivers, 6 up, and with one round to go there should be keen competition between these two pairs to find the winners.

Orkney Cup Finalists In th® semi-finals of the Orkney Cup, Caulton had no difficulty in defeating Lindley, 5 and 4, but Sansom gave Hill a good game and was beaten only 2 down. Caulton and Hill will meet in the final.

Saturday's Programme On Saturday the final round of the Brown and Walters Cups will be played, and on Sunday McKay will meet Hardie in the semi-final of the

junior championship. Mrs Hooper And Mrs Chivers In Cup Final - In the semi-final of the Omoto Cup competition, Mrs Hooper beat Mrs Hannan and Mrs Chivers beat Mrs Jones. Mrs Hooper (last year’s winner) will meet Mrs Chivers in the final and has to concede 11 strokes.

Caulton Buttons In the Caulton Challenge Buttons match, Mrs and Miss Robertson defeated Mrs Jones and Mrs Chivers (holders), at the 18th hole. On Saturday rain interfered with play over the last five holes, and all players, with the exception of Miss J. Robertson, gave up. Miss Robertson won the match with a card of 100-21-79, a good score in the stormy conditions. Hokitika Match Tomorrow the Greymouth women will travel to Hokitika to play a return match. The team will be Mesdames Hooper, Robertson, Wilkins, Murdoch, Alexander, Brayshay, Jones, K. Smith, Lambert, A. L. McKay, and Boustridge. Handicap Reduced Mrs C. Heaphy’s handicap has been reduced froth 36 to 32.
