Mr I. H. MacArthur, of Wellington, has been elected chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association. Mr A. H. Richards has been elected deputy-chairman.—(P.A.) Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., senior Magistrate at Wellington, will leave the bench on September 22' to begin his retiring leave. Mr Stout has been nearly 30 years on the bench and has been senior Magistrate at Wellington since 1938. He is a son of Sir Robert Stout, a former Chief Justice.— (P.A.)

The funeral of Mrs Dora Matthews took place this morning at Karoro cemetery. The Rev. Father V. Flaherty celebrated Requiem Mass, while the Rev. Father Leonard was in the sanctuary.
